Looking for one of the best ice cream shops in Virginia, possibly the world, then look no further. You’ve found it.
The Split Banana, Co., located at 7 W Beverley St., Staunton, Virginia 24401, offers great handmade authentic gelato from fresh, local, grass-fed milk, their gelato is some of the best in the United States. They offer 24 constantly rotating flavors that are all made on site using a variety of natural, minimally processed ingredients.
According to their website, ingredients include Highland County maple syrup, whole Madagascar vanilla beans, dark Italian chocolate, real Virginia peanuts, California pistachios, Hawaii basil, local peaches and baby ginger are just a few of the high quality foods incorporated into their daily production process.
In a Facebook promotion, the popular ice cream shop offers up November as “pie month” and we can’t disagree!
We’ve got all three of our incredible pie flavors in the display case for the duration – try Pumpkin Pie, Lydia’s Apple Pie, and Sweet Potato Pie, as well as more dessert-y flavors like Tiramisu, Rum Raisin, and our newest flavor – White Chocolate Cranberry You can get them in a free waffle cone or bowl on Wednesdays!
On our stop at The Split Banana we tried the raspberry sorbet, and it was amazing. The taste was fantastic. The service was outstanding. The place itself was great.
If you’re ever in the area, you should definitely stop in for gelato and sorbet.
